Sadly, I didn’t attend a Kenya-based church. I have heard that they can last from 9 AM to 2 PM, but I am sure just one Sunday would have been a good experience, even it was a long day. Maybe next time. :)
Instead, I went to church with Eleanor and her three kids. Eleanor is taking care of my itinerary while I am here, so I do whatever she says... and it all is sounding GREAT. I am really looking forward to the week ahead that she has set up for me!
The church we went to was a church of about 200 Americans, Asians and a few local people. It meets at the school that many kids go to who are in families of people serving overseas. After the service, we headed to the one of the big malls here. There is a courtyard with a big food court and all sorts of types of food. Eleanor’s kids shopped around for awhile before we sat down to eat. I took some money from an ATM and was ready for some great food. Eleanor’s youngest son convinced me that thai food there was great so I had my first Kenyan thai :) and it was very good. On the way home we stopped for fruit at a market and got some ICE CREAM next door. My first African ice cream... so you know it was a good day!
And then... I went home and SLEPT. I can’t tell you how long it has been since I have had a Sunday nap and for those of you who know me well, you know I don’t like having to take naps much except I LOVE a good Sunday nap. I am excited to get home and hopefully be able to have more of a life that is able to include such things.
Take a Sunday nap :) back home if you haven’t already,
Laura
